On 3 July 2007, flash floods started to devastate many parts of Sudan, including some areas in Darfur and Southern Sudan. ==Damage== As of 12 August, the emergency has caused the total or partial destruction of over 150,000 homes, leaving at least 750,000 homeless or in need of emergency shelter due to a destroyed home (according to an average of available estimates). The areas worst affected are the states of Kassala, Khartoum, North Kurdufan, Unity State, and Upper Nile.
